Abatement and Demolition of Buildings 555, 1000, and 1555, Misawa AB, Japan
Performed hazardous material abatement and demolition of three facilities in accordance with Japan Environmental Governing Standards (JEGS) and applicable US laws and regulations. This included abatement of 107,500 square feet of asbestos containing materials. Separated demolition debris for recycling or disposal at licensed and approved facilities. Project highlights include:
- Comprised a total of 30,000 square feet of building footprint
- Abatement included 107,500 square feet of ACM, including cement board, vinyl floor tile, floor mastic, HVAC duct wrap, duct flange gaskets, exterior cement siding, and exterior roofing shingles
- Universal wastes included smoke detectors, fluorescent light bulbs, and light fixture ballasts; these were removed and delivered to a waste management and recycling facility
- Implemented temporary storm water pollution prevention measures at each site
- Dust and other airborne particles were controlled throughout the demolition process via hose spraying of water
- For each facility utilities were terminated, backfill imported and compacted in lifts, topsoil imported, and the site hydro seeded and restored to green areas
