Runway 11/29 Rehabilitation, USAF 45th Space Wing, Patrick AFB, FL
Provided full design/build construction services to the 45th Space Wing for rehabilitation of Runway 11/29. Executed all aspects of design and construction to rehabilitate the runway surface into compliance with current Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) for cross slope and longitudinal slope including milling the existing asphalt concrete, overlaying the runway with 13,000 tons of new asphalt concrete, raising Runway 29 threshold lights, grooving and striping, and restoring the shoulders. Project highlights include:
- Recycled/reused 100% of asphalt materials onsite
- Completed paving work to bring the runway into compliance with UFC requirements
- Implemented sustainable design principles, including reuse of recovered materials
Worked closely with cost estimators during engineering design, successfully ensuring that the final design was constructible under actual current funding levels
