Completed a $3M remedial action that involved delineating the extent of contamination, excavation of contaminated soil, segregation of RCRA TCLP hazardous soil (for 2,4-DNT or lead), and treatment of 540 cubic yards of hazardous soil using on-site alkaline hydrolysis and lead fixation to render soil non-hazardous. Project highlights include:

• Staged soil in windrows to determine baseline contaminant concentrations
• Reduced nitroaromatic concentrations in soil to below hazardous levels
• Reused treated soil for on-site placement in open excavations
• Completed the alkaline hydrolysis process in 2½ months
